Most of us are taught to solve problems by thinking about them. Traditional talk therapy can be incredibly helpful in understanding patterns, building insight, and learning new ways to cope. But sometimes, even with all that insight, the same feelings or reactions keep showing up. This may feel like anxiety that won’t go away, tension that won’t release, or emotional triggers that feel out of proportion.
That’s because many of our struggles don’t just live in our thoughts, they are held in our bodies.

What Makes Somatic Therapy Different?
Somatic therapy works with both the mind and the body. Instead of only talking about what happened, we explore how your body holds and responds to those experiences. The body stores memories, stress, and emotions, even when we can’t put them into words. By tuning into sensations, movement, emotions and nervous system responses, we create space for healing that goes beyond insight alone.
Through gentle guidance, awareness, and presence, somatic therapy helps your body release what’s been held inside whether it is old stress, tension, fear, or shame. This allows you to feel more grounded, calm, and connected to yourself breaking the patterns you have been struggling with.
How I Integrate Somatic Approaches in Session
In my work, I draw from three main approaches that complement each other:
Brainspotting helps identify where unprocessed experiences are stored in the body and supports deep, focused healing.
Somatic Experiencing guides your nervous system to release the survival energy of stress and trauma safely and gradually.
Polyvagal Theory provides a roadmap for understanding your body’s responses to safety and threat—and how to restore balance and connection.
Each session is collaborative and tailored to your pace and comfort level. You won’t be pushed to relive painful memories or forced to “go deeper.” Instead, we follow what your body is ready for one moment at a time.
